Junior UI Designer

*This is a hybrid role (2 days WFH and 3 days in office) but the candidate must be local*

We are looking for a Junior UI Designer to turn our web-based apps into easy-to-use experiences for our clients and agents. Junior UI Designer responsibilities include gathering user requirements, designing graphic elements, and translating designs to the web. This person will work with the UI/UX Designer, Digital Marketing Manager,  Senior Director of Digital Strategy, and our team of designers. Together you’ll deliver UI mockups & prototypes, create graphics and imagery to compliment web pages, and develop responsive websites and landing pages.

To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software, wireframe tools, and a working knowledge of HTML & CSS. If you have a portfolio of professional design projects that includes work with web/mobile applications, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers
  • Design UI elements, like menus, tabs, buttons, and widgets
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how a site looks and functions.
  • Convey design concepts and present mockups to internal teams and key stakeholders.
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. hero images, icons, and and charts/graphs).
  • Identify and troubleshoot UI problems (e.g. responsiveness and accessibility).
  • Conduct design adjustments based on user feedback.
  • Adhere to brand standards on fonts, colors and images.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years’ experience as a web designer, UI designer, or similar role.
  • Proven work experience with web and mobile app design.
  • A portfolio of professional web and UI design work for both desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Strong typography, layout, and visual design skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry tools: Figma, Adobe XD,  Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Working knowledge of responsive design and grid principles.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Familiarity with Hubspot, Wordpress, Umbraco, and other CMS platforms.
  • A team player but can work independently too.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Web Design, HCI,  or related field.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with JavaScript, PHP, or .NET
  • Experience creating rapid prototypes
